Welcome to the Dating Wizard

The vast majority of Victorian and Edwardian family portraits were in the form of a carte de visite, cabinet card or midget card. The wizard can date these 3 types of mount only. If unsure, please check Types of Photograph.

The Wizard helps you to date your family portraits by looking at various aspects of the most popular card mounts used between 1860 and 1910. Simply follow the steps, make your choices and the computer will calculate a date range (e.g. 1877-1882, 1897-1901 etc.).

The wizard takes approximately 4 minutes to complete and we guarantee the result.
