I am researching my family tree and understand that my 2x Great Grandfather was a photographer in Blackburn, Lancashire. His name was John Watson Taylor. He was an amateur artist and painted all his own backdrops for the photographs. He died in 1920 and most of the photographs that I know that he took are from the Edwardian era. I am not sure whether he undertook this as a profession or as a hobby.
The census information that I have for him shows that he was actually a house painter and the shop was run by his wife. He is not listed as the shop owner in any directories nor is his wife.
I am more than happy for you to use the photograph on your website, and hopefully we can find some more examples of his work. At present I do not have enough information to compile a biography but will let you know if this changes
